Current Australian Association of Psychologists Incorporated (AAPi) recommendation - $330 per 50 minute session
Current Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommendation - $318 per 50 minute session
Medicare & Private Health Insurance
Medicare & Private Health Insurance
You may be eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) through your GP. A MHCP gives you access to a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions with a Clinical Psychologist per year. To see if you are eligible, please make an appointment with your regular GP.
The current Medicare rebate for Clinical Psychology is $145.25 per session.
If you have Private Health Insurance with extra's cover, you may be able to claim a rebate through your fund. Rebate amounts differ between funds and policies. Please contact your fund directly to check your eligibility.
Please note that you cannot claim both of the above rebates for the same session.
